World Language

At Atlas, our World Language program is a meaningful part of how we educate the whole child and prepare students for a world that is more connected than ever. As part of our related arts rotation, students receive Spanish instruction every four school days for 50 minutes.

This time is designed to be joyful, engaging, and rich with culture. Our goal is not fluency at this stage. Instead, we aim to spark curiosity, build a strong foundation in communication, and nurture global awareness. Through songs, storytelling, games, and culturally immersive lessons, students learn high-frequency vocabulary, practice simple conversations, and explore the traditions, food, music, art, and celebrations of Spanish-speaking countries.

I am excited about the Spanish classes, the kids love them!

More importantly, they are developing empathy, confidence, and a broader understanding of the world around them. We want our students to see language learning as exciting and empowering, something that opens doors and builds connections. This program lays the groundwork for continued Spanish study in middle school and beyond, helping students grow into confident, compassionate communicators in a global society
