We asked our faculty, “What do you bring to Atlas?”
Now it’s Haley's turn to give us an answer!
But, who is Haley? Read on to learn more about our Special Education Teacher and why she's so important to us!
"I grew up a military brat and lived all over the US and beyond, including Hawaii (it's as wonderful as you'd imagine) and Japan. We landed in the MetroEast when my dad retired. I've called St. Louis "home" for the past 12 years.
I've dabbled in a lot of things! I have a BS in Journalism and worked a few years as a freelance journalist before returning to school to complete my MAT in Special Education. I have completed advanced graduate work in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, been certified as a Dyslexia Practitioner in the Orton-Gillingham Method, and moonlight as a fitness instructor.
My family of three landed in Fox Park a few years ago. My wonderful husband, Jason, and I are parents to a very inquisitive 3-year-old, Autumn. We have a rascally puppy, Willow, and love to take lengthy walks through the neighborhoods and local parks. Biking and outdoor concerts are our current favorite activities.
When I was little, I wanted to be a dancer, a storyteller, a 'sewer' (seamstress), and/or a teacher -- 2 for 4!"
When asked what she brings to Atlas, this is what Haley said, "I bring the care, consideration, and commitment to making what seems like an insurmountable task conquerable. Step-by-step and skill-by-skill, I bring the desire to make the path to discovery and the culminating 'aha!' moment accessible and meaningful for each student."
Haley makes an incredible addition to our team, and we are so excited for the knowledge and passion she brings to her position!
